Mochitsuki!

We went to Mochitsuki with Aloha. It's a New Year's celebration for the Japanese community (and friends) in Portland. Some nice ladies made me cat ears and we saw taiko and we saw some hula and traditional Japanese dance. I even got to play a real taiko drum myself. I was really loud! The girls that were helping near the drums were really impressed. When I got home, I practiced some more on my hamper/garbage can/drum.

I was really looking forward to the show even though it was my nap time and I DID enjoy the show. I also fell asleep and slept right through the really loud Tanuki Taiko performance! Mommy says they were good but I was snoring (thankfully, they're so loud no one could hear me snore.)

I woke up during a storyteller's part of the show and blurted out (loudly), "That guy has a headband like Mommy and Wai Laina." Mommy and Daddy were embarrassed but they also laughed. I love doing stuff like that! I wonder what that story was about. Maybe I'll find out next year.

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Mommy had a great birthday. We hiked up to Angel's Rest and we came home and had pizza and really yummy cake! What more could you ask for?

Oh, well, we had TWO uncles there. That was pretty unusual. We had a great time. Happy Birthday Momma! I love you! Can I have more cake now?

Stuck in the Snow with Scout

Happy New Year! To celebrate we went up to a cabin in the woods with Scout (and a bunch of other dogs). We had a really great time. Thankfully, Daddy had a birthday so that was an excuse for cupcakes and pie. Woo-hoo! I have a hard time for waiting for birthday cupcakes. I like to get right down to it.

All sorts of people and dogs came to hang out with me. It was really great. I think my favorite dog is Dora because she's more my size than the rest but I love them all. I wish they'd all live with us all the time. Mommy says that five dogs is too much but she doesn't know what she's talking about.

We also went snowshoeing - I got to ride in a sled. Sometimes it was bumpy and I complained but I didn't mind too much. I was snug in a sleeping bag and I got to snack when my fingers were warm enough. It was a really interesting. We're all hoping to ski someday soon but I guess I have to decide it is okay to stand on snow before I start skiing. In the meantime, the sled keeps me safe from snow. Heee-heee. Check out the gallery for all sorts of photos of our adventure.
